Candice Milner Midwifery

Kia Ora Koutou. My name is Candice and I am a mother to one and stepmother to two beautiful tamariki. I am a registered midwife and I love my job.

Growing up in Banks Peninsula/Whakaraupō, I have a huge passion for exploring and preserving our environment. My life is centred around my whānau and I understand the importance of their inclusion in your care. My other hobbies include songwriting, gardening (I live in an indoor jungle!) and getting involved in various community groups in my village.

I was drawn to midwifery by my previous experiences volunteering in the fire service, educating at schools/kindergartens, working as a carer for mothers and babies and volunteering as a breastfeeding support worker. I saw the beauty of supporting whānau through both joyous and difficult times, and saw a wide variety of social situations and cultures.

I am a midwife who loves supporting a variety of birthers and feel strongly about working with you, in a way that suits your own whānau. Although I understand medical recommendations and guidelines, I believe it is your choice to make an informed decision to birth and parent how you want to. I strongly believe you know your body and your baby best.

I love supporting homebirth in particular, but also support primary unit birth and birth at the tertiary unit (Christchurch Women’s) when medically indicated.

Please get in touch if you’d like my information pack emailed to you, as it answers many more specific questions you may have.

In 2022 I was honoured with the opportunity to promote Ara through a video regarding my experience in their midwifery program where you can hear a little about my passion for this line of work.
